can you answer questions about anal sex?

I much and carefule research I have been participating in anal sex with my partner for over 1 year. I am female, he is male) For the first time, I had a good deal of pain, and some bleeding. Obviously we stopped tonight. What do I need to look out for? How much blood is too much? Would you recommend a hemmoroid cream or antibiotic ointment?
