Can I ask...
do you actually take prednisilone or any other steroid either as a tablets, or as a cream etc?
What blood tests/investigations etc have you had? Do you know any results?
Do you take any other medication?
Do you have any other medical problems? __________________ If this answered your question please click ACCEPT, use reply if there is something else you need to know regarding your question.Positive feedback or bonus is very much appreciated.

No I do not "take" Prednisone pills,I received the prednisone form a pain doctor who was treating both hips and low center back, I had too many injections in a three week period. I KNow that is where the prednisone is coming from because he told me and said I sould hae to wait "months" for any relief
No blood test or results. blood was tken at one clinic but I do not know the results
Yes, I take cordorone for Atril fib,Atacand
for BP, Plavix for better blood circulation,
Aspiring, Feldene, Darvocet for pain..
Melatonin and Tylenl PMs for sleep aids.
AS I said,I'm 86 so I have accumulated many unwelcome health situations
Atril Fib, under control BP is good usually 130 over 65 some hight some lower.
Extreme pain in both hips, lower back and lower left leg. I had surgery for a L4/L5 disk and in the process both sciatic nerves were compromised , which brought on Periperal Neuropathy (nere trauma) All cehcks for diabetes, heavy metal injection ec..negative
As you can see, I am worried about the present circumstances, especialy the possibilit of Cushinggs disease

With your medical history for cardiovascular problems then you are at increased risk of chronic heart failure, where the heart has to work harder then starts to slow down.
A consequence of this is swelling of ankles, feet and fluid around the lungs too. the prednisolone may be adding to a problem which is underlying. Your body can cope with a lot of steroid in a short term (within certain parameters), Cushings disease tends to occur with chronic steroid use so stopping the injections now and allowing time to take its course is the most appropriate way of treating the steroid dosage.
However, that does not mean you should not have a full check up and investigation to rule out other causes. An Echocardiogram will show if there have been any changes to your heart muscle performance.
Blood and urine tests should be done to review kidney function, and check for electrolyte levels. Inappropriate levels may contribute to the swollen ankle problem.
The compression hosiery is a good idea if you are not so mobile as you used to be, this helps the 'muscle pump' return fluid to the heart. You may need thigh length hosiery and they should be put on first thing in the morning as you get up.
I don't want to recommend diuretics owing to your other medication, but they may be required under strict supervision and I recommend finding an alternative to Feldene for pain as this (very rarely) impacts on kidney function and contributes to fluid retention.
Does this help?

One of the answer to selling I obtined from on line doctors is lmphodemo. The lymph glands tend to deposit thier holding throuugh out t he body leading to the swelling I have ecxperienced. With all respect, I expected to have an MD evaluate and recommmend solutions to my problem. The hose application cannot possibly ovecome the degree of swelling I am experiencing

Please feel free to relist and request a MD. Just Answer has a range of experts online
Lymphoedema is certainly a possible cause. There are a number of other causes of swollen limb and seeking medical attention is often the only way to get a clear diagnosis owing to the need to observe and palpate.

Good evening. Let's see if I can help.
I'm a cardiovascular and kidney doc who years ago was consultant at Brooks AFB,School of Aerospce Medicine. That doesn't mean I can definitely help you, but I do have some tools that Pauline (an excellent Expert consultant) does not have -- we work together. I agree with everything she told you. Now it is my job to try to put it all together.
Most important: Are you short of breath lying and/or sitting. If so, dial 911.
Important: Keep in mind the fact that I cannot examine you or order tests. I am able only to take what you tell me and considering that, what Pauline has found, and what else I can uncover, advise you.
Next, are you a veteran? From your age, it is probable that you are. If you are, that will aid me in helping you.
When did you start receiving the steroid injections? How frequently did you receive them? When was the last? Do you know the doses and/or were you tapered off (decreasing doses)?
Unilateral swelling does suggest lymphedema. We keep that in mind.
I will check back on and off.

Yes, I am a veteran of bot Army and Air Force.
I have been receiving injections at the site of my hips and later in the very bottom of my spineAbout 20 to 45 days apart. The last three were given in about 4 weeks, close together.
In April and early May 2006 I had three closely spaced injections , possibly due to my complaints of severe pain in those areas. The injections were in the lower back at the bottom of my spine. I suffer from acute and intgense pain in both hips and lower left leg; the swelling there aggravates this painful condition.
I am now taking feldene, aspirin for the relief of pain, I also try Darvcet which has no effect at all over the pain. I have never taken prednisone pills. Thanks you for your response and intention of checking back with me. I worked at the AF School of Aerospace Medicine in 1975 and 76.

My primary doctor is at Wel Med Clinic NEloop 410, San Antoniio Tx 2106596000. I don't know what a VAMC system is, In the Air Force we were required to attend the "altitude chamber" annuallly. At the Medical Center I worked on all electronic materials and measuring devices including graph recordes and calibrated them based on a two step away from the Bureau of Standards. I reworked the hyudraulic system that
powered the "sled in the Cobalt 60 facility.
The Hyperbaric (sp) chamber and the Centrifuge.
BAcck to problems. I fall a lot, I have had majorcger on my right shoulder totator cuff, I fell against a table edge in my back yards while feeding the birds and crushed m y left cheek bone, resulting in the loss of sight in my left eye.I am now trying to recover from a fall that
tore the skin on my left leg and left arm. It is being difficult to heal Usually skined places tend to scab over and heal within two weeks. My wonds are still draining despite daily bandage changes with biotracin ointment being applied in each case, I was treat at the Texas Med Clinic and discharged with an antibiotic prescribtion that ws to be taken 2 a day for 10 days. I know I m getting far afiled from my original complaint but I can't help but think that my healign proces has someting to do with the loss of the body resisteance capabilityh that is somewhat destroyed by the Prednisone over dose.

My left fooot and ankle swollentoo big to wea shoes, tight foot somewhat swelled. My face and neck have fat folds and i had to buy shirts with a larger collar. I have a new fat fold arond my waist. My catarac got worse - I have surgery scheuled for 13 July 06. This is reisky becuase I have only the one eye (right.
I have fallen and received large abrasions and
scrathces on my left are and leg. They won't heall. All still seep blood and one has pus in it.Bandages are changed regularly, with bacatracin ointment applied each time
Doctors seen so far are totaly unfamiliar with prednisone over dose effects. One dismissed me with a suggestion to wear elastic socks - no other syndrome was addressed.
I am afraid of Cushing syndrome and Lymphoderma

What suggstions do you have for relieving this condition?
