I have an E-antibody attached to my blood. I developed this antibody during my recent pregnancy. What exactly does this mean for me and my unborn baby during my next pregnancy?

Reply to Deborah's Post: I'm not sure exactly. My doctor told me as I was waiting to go in for my c-section. I had to wait for quite a few hours so they could find a blood to match mine in case i needed a transfusion. What he told me was that at some point during my pregnancy (because I didn't have it during my first initial test at the beginning of my pregnancy) that my blood must have mixed with my unborn baby's blood. And that I now have an e-antibody attached to my blood. I'll be back online tomorrow late morn/early afternoon.

Dear Shannon,

Deborah, an excellent expert here, asked me to see if I can help.

Well, I didn't have a clue! But I'm sneaky, and I'm an old guy with lots of time, so I took a look around the professional literature, some of which I understand and some of which I don't.

I found a web page and am linking you to it. I have not read it all, and at my age, we can ge very tired.

Since I can tell from the way your question is composed that you are more than intelligent, you are literate. So, I'm giving you the link witout my usual explanation for now.

I'll return to JA later today to answer any questions you have. I hope that's okay.

Reply to Teaching Doc's Post: The information I read on this website doesn't sound like what my doctor described to me. He told me that the antibody won't cause any problems for me unless I ever needed a blood transfusion or get pregnant again. My own research on the internet told me that the antibody would cause some serious health risks for my baby should I get pregnant again. I just want to know what the risks are for my unborn baby and myself if I got pregnant again. I also would like to know how likely that my baby or I would experience these affects if I did get pregnant again.
