Reply to Family Physician's Post: I AM A FIREFIGHTER, AND I HAVE TO RETAKE MY STRESS TEST. THE 1ST TIME I TOOK IT, MY VO2 MAX WAS 36.5%, THEY SAID I NEED A 42.5% TO MEED THEIR STANDARD, OR I MAY LOSE MY JOB. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE I COULD DO, OR IF THERE IS A MEDICATION THAT WOULD HELP ME OBTAIN THE STANDARD.

No, there really isn't any medication you can take. Basically, working to increase your fitness level is the most important thing you can do.

Are you overweight? Do you have any medical problems? Any respiratory problems? Asthma? Do you smoke? Are you taking any medications?
