Question

Swollen, blue feet

Sent to Health Experts July 19, 2006 10:38 p.m.

Yesterday evening when I got home from work, I noticed both my feet were swollen. There was also a bluish color around my right ankle. It was 98 degrees and very humid yesterday. Today it was less swollen in the morning, but when I got home from work, they were as swollen as yesterday and the blue was a purplish blue and there seems to be more area discolored. I also remember feeling a bug bite my right calf last week. I felt the sharp pinch, but have no clue what kind of bug it was. That's the leg that is discolored. Neither leg hurts except at the spot where I got bite. I have put the elastic stockings on and made sure I drank a lot of water today. My daughter is worried it could be heart failure. I just think the hot humid heat wave we just had affected me. Unfortunately, I was laid off from my last job and lost my health coverage. I have a new job but won't have coverage until August 1st. So, even though I have paid for medical coverage for years and never needed to use it, I am now in a position that I need the medical coverage but have none. Without coverage, due to high doctor’s fees, I can not afford go to a doctor for 2 weeks. What should I do for my feet? W can I get the swelling down? What should I worry about?
