The inside of my right and left cheek are swollen; this has happened before and gone away in a day or so (I never went to the doctor for this; don't know how/why this occurs). However, the left side is more bothersome at this time and I am applying ice to the inside of my mouth (just started doing this). This has occurred before, however, it appears more troublesome and sore than usual; thanks in advance for your anticipated reply.

Applying ice to the area; it's very late @ night & am thinking about going to the ER.

REPLIED Check Mark

Hello Ma'am,

swelling of cheeks can result from
-obstruction of the salivary gland ducts
-dental abscess
-mucocele

It is better that you get yourself checked in the ER because if there is a calculi/ stone in the duct it needs to be removed under medical care.

Hope that was helpful to you.

Since it's the middle of the night, here, should I continue applying ice to the affected areas? Also, what is mucocele? Thanks in advance.
