(Not a Health Question?)

Is it a medical or a mental issue?
Sent to Health Experts August 12 05:34 PM

One day i was working out on the eliptical machine. I had only been on it for about 4 minutes when all the sudden i felt faint and thought I was going to collapse. After this happened i went outside and tried to walk it off. i went back in the gym and gave it another shot, once again the same thing. This happened about two months ago. I stared having weird symptoms such as dizzy spells, blurry vision, trouble eating in resteraunts, light headed when i took deep breaths, many different things. Since then i have had a cat scan, echocardiogram, chest xray. And everything seems to be normal on the tests. Another doctor suggested it may be anxiety or a panic disorder. But then another told me he thought it was medical because this had never happened before. Another doctor recommended me to be checked to see if high blood pressure played a part in it. I'm lost and my life has not been the same since before this happened. What could it have been from just working out on an eliptical machine for no more than 4 minutes? Please help!

Hello,

It sounds more like an axiety or panic disorder as you stated it has happend in a resturant as well.

You could purchase a blood pressure monitor at any pharmacy and keep a record to determine if there is a variation in your BP.

Here is some info related to GAD (generalized anxiety disorder)and panic attacks.

Reply to Deborah's Post: thanks for the advice. When i first spoke with the phsyciatrist they asked me why i was sent to them for this. To them they thought it was more of a medical situation. Since this happened out of nowhere. Also when i get excited or if i were to have an orgasm the feeling of passing out hits me very hard. Do you think if it is anxiety or a panic disorder i will be back to my normal self again someday? If i can get over it.

Although rare, fainting or feeling faint during or after an orgasm is possible. Known by some as Le Petit Mort, "the little death," this phrase was used by the French to describe the temporary loss of consciousness during orgasm. While this is not the norm, there are some logical explanations as to why this can occur. As secual arousaloccurs, your breath shortens and quickens. For some, their breath becomes so rapid that they hyperventilate. When this happens, the normal levels of carbon dioxide in the blood fall, which may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or actually result in fainting.

Another explanation is that the brain doesn't receive enough oxygen because of reduced blood flow. This happens because sexual arousal causes blood to flow from the brain to the genitals. This may produce an altered state of awareness or a true loss of consciousness.

Fainting after orgasm could also be a symptom of a serious condition, such as an abnormal heart rhythm. During daily activities, people with this condition may feel fine. However, when they exert themselves during exercise or sexual activity, their heart can't maintain adequate blood pressure. When the exertion ends, their heart rate decreases, but the blood vessels from the muscles remain dilated, causing them to feel faint or pass out.

I would suggest that you havea EKG to rule out abnormal haeart rhythmn.
