Question

My brother-in-law is waking up in the middle of the night ...

My brother-in-law is waking up in the middle of the night and can not breathe. He is also coughing up phelgm that is very thick and white like mayonaise at night and during the day. He recently lost his health isurance and is uncertain if he needs medical care. Help please.

Is he running any fever?
Is he sleeping flat in the bed?
Does he smoke?
Does he have any other symptoms, such as sore throat, lung congestion or wheezing. Any history of asthma? Does he have any kind of medical problems or is he on any kind of medications?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get as much information as I can in order to answer your question.
