Question

Liver Issues

Sent to Health Experts August 16, 2006 1:44 p.m.

Almost 2 years ago I had my gall bladder removed and was expecting to have the pain and discomfort I was feeling gone forever. Unfortunately I have been suffering with pain under my right rib ever since. Sometimes the pain and discomfort forces me to stand or walk around the balance of my work day. I must tell you that I have been to several doctors and have had many test run and and all have been negative with regard to any liver problems. The only negative I've received is that my LFN's are higher which means, from what I've been told, my liver is inflamed. My liver specialist is telling me I have fatty liver but even that's not conclusive without a biopsy which has some risk. He also tells me he may want to do a ERPC(?) on me but the probability of pancreatitis is generaly high when this procedure is done and can last for months. As I sat at work today I really noticed discomfort after I ate lunch but none after I ate breakfast. As I thought about it today I realized this is exactly the what happens to me on a regular basis. No pain after breakfast but pain and discomfort for the balance of the day after lunch. I must also tell you that I quit smoking about 8 weeks ago and about a month ago per my personal physicians request I quit drinking alcohol, which I have done. I will also make you aware that my triglycerides are pretty high at about 543 which is very concerning. I attempted to gone on medicaton to deal with that issue but I thought my liver was going to jump right out of me after 10 days on the meds. For the past 6 weeks I have been eating much healthier and taking Omega 3 tablets in the attempt to control my cholesterol and triglycerine counts. I just think it's very strange that this happens everyday after I eat lunch. As I sit here typing I can actually feel my liver jumping around inside. Without the biopsy I think my doctors are at a loss. I guess I'm looking for a 3rd, 4th or 5th opinion as to what problem may be. Also, is there actually a way to de-toxify my liver since I've heard that small stones can actually block the livers ducts and cause complications to the livers daily routine. Are there any medicines for the liver to reduce inflammation? I'm sure I have more medical information available but what I've presented is pretty much the main issue.

Thanks for your time.
