Dear Customer (name blocked for privacy), Thankyou for your question.
Yes stress definitely is a major contributor to this type of thing.
Usually within 7-10 days this clears up by itself but it is aggravating I understand. (The good news is you have already gotten through some of the days)
While most cold sore medications cannot "cure" this problem they can allow less pain and possibly quicker healing is promoted.
A medication containing lidocaine or xylocaine may be sued to relieve pain.(write those names down and take them to the store with you). It never hurts to ask the pharmacist what over the counter medication is sold the most for this.
The following website has a list of medications dentists recommend:
HERPES PRODUCTS, COLD SORE TREATMENT, Medication for FEVER BLISTERS & COld sores by dentist.net
Some helpful ideas : Eat popsicles. This helps especially if you have mouth burn.Avoid hot/spicy foods, salty foods and citrus to minimize pain.
Take Tylenol as directed on label ,regularly.
Should the sore appear after starting a new medication call your dr.
