The first day of my last period was on 25 June, I had been on the loestrin pill for 6 months. On July 30 I took a home pregnancy test that came back negative, On August 8 my period still hadn't come so I went to a doctors office and took a urine pregnancy test there, still negative. On August 15, no period, so I went to a medical clinic and took a blood pregnancy test, negative. On August 23, I still didn't have my period, so I took another home pregnancy test, negative. On August 28, I took another one, negative again. On August 29 I went and had a pap smear and internal checkup. I told the nurse about my recent history. Previously, all had been very normal. I had a baby in 2004, my test showed positive on the day my period was due. She was born healthy and very smoothly. The nurse suggested I try Progestin 10mg for 5 days to bring my period on. I had not had sex with my husband for 31/2 weeks prior to this day. The nurse told me that it could take up to 14 days after you finish the taking the tablets for the progestin to work. It has now been 7 days since I finished my 5 day prescription. This morning I was cleaning out a draw and found a pregnancy test (still in date) and thought what the the heck, it has now come back pregnant. Is there any chance the progestin could give me a false positive reading? If not, then what are the side effects on a foetus from the progestin? What should I do now?
