This sound in medical language is known as tinnitus and it is said that about 36 million americans suffer from it.

It occurs whenever the nerve of the ear responsible for hearing is damaged.Causes include

  • circulation problems leading to change in blood pressure
  • injury to head and neck
  • dental procedures
  • medications especially painkillers(especially aspirin), sedatives ,
  • ear problems such as meniere's disease
  • sometimes as simple as wax impaction can also cause ringing
  • Presence of tumor

Cure is variable for tinnitus depending on the cause. Most of the time no cure is found and advise given are steps to mask the sound with exercises, hearing aids which help masking the sound.

Exercises for improving circulation are also recommended as most of the times such sounds are a result of faulty circulation.

Other steps include avoiding-> (salts, tea/coffee,smoking,alcohol) and doing daily exercises, avoiding fatigue.Do check for presence of thyroid or diabetes as this can also be a cause of tinnitus.

Hope the information has been helpful.
