I have had 3 week long peroids in 2 months. I have a 13 month old you still nurses, and my obgyn says that it is the mini pill causing the spratic bi-weekly peroids. I have only had 5 peroids since giving birth to my 13 month old. I am just exausted and tired of feeling like there is more to it. They have given me a regular birth control pill, but i am still nursing, any other sugestions or answers

Hi Filstup4-

It is quite possible that the mini-pill was causing your irregular periods. The regular pill should significantly help regulate your period.

Another option is to go on Depo Provera, which works extremely well as birth control - it also tends to reduce/eliminate a woman's period after a few months (typically a woman will have some spotting or light bleeding during the first three months - or during the first shot - and then greatly reduce or eliminate your period after the second shot).

If your period doesn't become lighter and more regular after being on the new pill for two months, you need to speak to your OB/GYN - it may be that you have an underlying medical condition causing the irregular bleeding (such as endometriosis).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Sincerely,
Emily
