Hello and Welcome to Just Answer,

Does your ear hurt like you have an earache? Are you running any kind of fever? Are you on any medication or have any kind of medical problems?

Thank you,
Pam Russell RN

No, my ear does not hurt, just feels clogged. No fever and no medical problems.

What I am sure you have is a build up of wax in your ear. I have seen people with so much build up that they cannot hear out of that ear. When you use cotton tips to clean your ears, alot of times wax can get pushed down into the ear canal. You need to go to any supermarket in the pharmacy aisle and buy you some "debrox". This is a medication that takes about 3 days to use I believe. Be sure and read the directions. It has been awhile since I have used it. I do know that you will but the drops in your ear and leave it for I think 24 hours and then flush your ear. You do this about 3 times or 3 days in a row, because it takes that long to get all the wax build up out of your ear.

Thank you,
Pam Russell RN

Yes it could very well be from that. I have had similar problems in the past. What you need in that case is a decongestant. Make sure it is a decongestant and not an antihistamine. A decongestant will break all that up, which is what you want to do. An antihistamine will dry it up, but you really don't want that right now. Take a decongestant for a couple of days. If it seems to get better then you can try an antihistamine. If none of that works you can try the debrox. If you start having pain in the ear, you will probably need to see a doctor because you probably have an infection that can only be treated by antibiotics. But, you can try all of the above first.

Thank you,
Pam Russell RN
