I have had persistant nausea for almost 6 months now and it is starting to be like a sour taste. I am also unable to get or stay warm. Last night I was sweating under my blanket and my GF said my skin felt like it was on fire but I was freezing. I havent felt good for a few months and have tried to talk to my doctor but he keeps saying I am fine. I need to find out what might be wrong.

GALLBLADDER ATTACK SYMPTOMS

Hello,

I'm sorry that you have been feeling so badly for so long. Let's see if I can help you sort this out.

One of the areas that you and your doctor might consider investigating is the area of your gallbladder. Sometimes the gallbladder, which is located in the area beneath your right rib, may become diseased, and/or inflammed. This can cause a variety of symptoms (see below). Some people experience some of those symptoms in varying intensity depending on how diseased their gallbladder becomes. You may also run a low grade temperature and just "not feel well". An acid taste in your mouth is common.

I have listed below the symptoms of a gallbladder attack, but in fact some of those listed symptoms are early indications of gallbladder disease. I think that it may be to your benefit to have your doctor do an ultrasound on your gallbladder to determine if it is diseased or has gallstones.

Please note that if you are in severe pain and particularly if your attack symptoms are accompanied by fever DO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.

The following symptoms are typical of a gallbladder attack. The symptoms may be mild initially and may intensify over time.

  • Moderate to severe pain under the right side of the rib cage
  • Pain may radiate through to the back or to the right shoulder
  • Severe upper abdominal pain (biliary colic)
  • Nausea
  • Queasiness
  • Vomiting
  • Gas/Bloating
  • Burping or belching
  • Attacks are often at night
  • Attacks often occur after overeating
  • Pain will often but not always follow a meal with fats or grease
  • Pain may be worse with deep inhalation
  • Attacks can last from 15 minutes to 15 hours
  • Dizziness
  • Bitter stomach acid taste

Hello again,

I really do think that this is a digestive disorder which may be your gallbladder. When the gallbladder is diseased, it can make you feel under the weather for quite some time.

The nausea and acid taste that you are experiencing may be due to gastric reflux which is the "backing up" of stomach acid into your esophagus but then you have to ask yourself what would be causing the excessive acid in the stomach which could be once again due to the gallbladder or a biliary problem.

I really think that you should have the gallbladder evaluated and in the event it is not the gallbladder, the tests would give your doctor more information on which to proceed. If you cannot get any satisfaction from your doctor, I would suggest going to another doctor or gastroenterologist for more complete evaluation. You shouldn't be feeling this ill for such a long time without there being something wrong and it shouldn't be dismissed by your doctor as "nothing".
