Reply to HealthGuru aka Emily's Post: I think its the muscle but i haven't done anything physical and im in pretty good shape, but i was in a bad motorcycle accident 14 months ago. but that part of my leg was not affected. whene i lye down it has a minor pain, when i walk or move my leg it turns in to a sharp pain almost unbarable. I just got laid off so i dont have medical insurance anymore. I just wanted to see what was wrong and if it will go away. I have been taking norco for the pain appoximattly two a day then a valuim at night so i can sleep.

Thanks for the information.

I can completely empathize with not having insurance - unfortunately, however, it sounds like you need to be seen by a doctor.

The fact that you are in so much pain is an indication that there is something wrong - either with the muscle, but possibly with the nerve (or even bone) as well. If the pain was getting better, I would say to wait another week or so - it often takes a few weeks for a pulled muscle to stop hurting - but because it sounds like the pain is as bad as it was a week ago, if not worse, you have to be seen.

In the meantime, stay off your feet as much as possible. If the pain is from overuse (as would be the case if you are suffering from a condition such as Iliotibial Band Syndrome), a few days rest should help. Also, take warm baths as needed, and apply a warm compress as needed.

Sincerely,
Emily
