Question

I've been taking Seasonale birth control

Sent to Health Experts October 07, 2006 1:42 p.m.

I've been taking Seasonale birth control pill for about two years now. I started a new pack about a month ago, and my period has not stopped (now going onto the second "flap" in the pill pack. Should I be concerned?

Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy)-

There could be a few different explanations for the prolonged bleeding. It could be, for example, that the hormone's provided in the Seasonale are no longer compatable with your body - meaning you may need to switch birth control pills, possibly to one with more (or less) hormone. You may also be suffering from a medical condition, such as an ovarian cyst or a fibroid.

Because you have been bleeding for several weeks now, you should go ahead and make an appointment with your doctor.

Sincerely,
Emily
