it's amoxicillin. most of the illnesses going around right now are viral. antibiotics shouldn't be used for viral infection as there is no benefit. Inappropriately used antibiotics are probably the reason we are now seeing bacteria that are resistant to penicillin. It's called MRSA. Here's a link about MRSA

the short of it is, I wouldn't take an antibiotic until you have a clinical diagnosis of bacterial infection by a physician.
