Morning Sickness & prenatal vitamin
Sent to Health Experts September 21 06:49 AM

Morning Sickness is not usual for me (I'm 9 weeks), but today I threw up and most likely lost my medicines including my prenatal vitamin.

Is it safe to retake the prenatal vitamin or should I let it go? What about other medications? I also take an anti-depressant.

Thanks!

Hi Rachel

Let it go for one day. You aren't positive you lost the medicine when you were sick, and missing one day won't hurt. If you are having morning sickness, you might consider taking your medicine in the evening. Just a thought.

Reply to Kerry's Post: So taking the vitamin a second time is worse than skipping a day?

How long had you swallowed it before you threw up?

If it was in your system for 45 minutes you need to wait until morning to take your next dose as it only takes 30 minutes for medication, even vitamins to dissolve and get into your system. As kerry said, if you think it may be a problem taking them in the morning because sometimes morning sickness shows up later in the pregnancy, you may choose to take them in the evening instead. It will not hurt for you to wait until tomorrow evening to take the next one should you choose to switch to evenings, just make sure once you take it tomorrow evening you don't miss anymore. I hope this will help you.
