Dear Radha,
Beta-blockers do NOT lead to a higher blood pressure. All i can say is that your BP is likely shooting up due to the underlying reason fo ryour High Blood pressure, that means that your BP is inadequately controlled. Sometimes when a drug is NOT effective then your BP may still keep on increasing even after trying a higher dose, adn this may be happening in your case.

A different BP medicine (like ACE inhibitors/ diuretics) or acombination may be helpful in your case to control your BP.

Dear Radha,
I am sorry but I checked your question again... I did not accurately answer your question.
However the answer is still the same, high BP is NOT a side-effect of beta blockers. The way they work it is not going to happen. IF you already have LOW BP, beta blockers may not lower it further, but they will not raise it further. The cause of your high BP has to be something else... that would need a detailed evaluation from your physician.
