My dr. diagnosed me with Bursitus of the knee last week and ...

My dr. diagnosed me with Bursitus of the knee last week and put me on advil. She gave me a referrel for a bone dr. who does not have an appt. until Dec. 16th. My doctor says I may need shots in my knee. Now I can hardly walk and was sent home from work yesterday. My doctor now perscribed Tylenol with codene for 2 days. I am still having severe knee pain when walking. I just want to get back to work as soon as possible. My son wants to take me to the ER. What do you suggest?

Already Tried:
Putting my knee on ice, elevating it, trying to stay off of it as much as possible. Also, rubbing flex all into it.
