I still need help. I don't think my husband will listen to anyone. Even if he were to take something for anexity, he would continue to drink. If he continues at this rate, are you telling me that his organs will shut down? Maybe then he will listen to me if he knows just how bad it is. Thanks, Helen

Some people drink their whole lives and don't have any adverse effects. Most people do. His liver will shut down and he will get what is called cirrhosis. The diabetes is hard on the kidneys, so if he is not controlling his blood sugars, the kidney's will eventually shut down. He also has a huge chance of going blind.

There may be nothing you can do to help him. We can't change other people. Perhaps you can convince him to try an anti-anxiety medication but it will make things progress faster if he continues to drink and take those. There is also a high propensity for addiction with anti-anxiety medications.

There are some newer anti-depressants out there that help with anxiety too, so maybe that's a route you will want to explore.

Hope that helps,

Kerry
