Depending on what all has to be done, this can either be done as an out patient or a day stay. As far as how long it would take that is something you would have to talk over with his doctor. (I wouldn't know how fast he works or his working situation) Generally as far as pain, there is some soreness. How well he handles pain would be another factor, but they do get pain medication which in return will make the area sore. The camera I am not familiar with. But depending upon how far back he may have to go it may be to make sure the Urethra is correct.

Now on a personal note, my son too had to have urethral meatus for the hole on his penis was closer to the top, so when he would urinate he would almost have to smash his penis totally down ward and he would still urinate everywhere. He ended up being almost 12 when he had it done. He had no pain after-wards, it was sore.. but no pain. The first day he slept. There was a certain cream that had to be kept on (which to make sure it was done correctly I had done it) but now he has no problems at all and hes almost 16. I don't know the extent of your sons.. but the doctor we had was really good.. very knowledgeable.. so I do know how you feel as a mother going into this.. But all turned out good on this end..

Hope this helps.
