Question

how long does it take to possibly get an ucler from taking

Sent to Health Experts December 15, 2005 7:04 p.m.

How long does it take to possibly get an ucler from taking daily aspirin. I was recently put on 325mg(4days)aspirin for heart related problems. I am 32 and recently started having stomach pain right below my rib cage and I am wondering if it coul already be an ulcer.
Thank you - Julie

It can actually happen at any time as it could also depend on the amount of other aspirin based medications that you have taken in the past and to what duration as well. Some people can take aspirin and not be effected and some people cannot. I actually had an ulcer rupture and for me it was because of 5 years of taking aspirin based medications for an accident I was in. My pain started in the location as your pain is in so I would recommend that you ask to have x-rays performed. It could very well be your gallbladder as well that could cause this type of pain too, but an ulcer would not have been caused by the aspirin if you were just recently put on it. It could very well be an ulcer and deserves having it looked into but 4 days of aspirin most likely would not be the only cause of this.

The pain is continuing to get worse and keeps coming almost like contractions. Is this how it felt for you?
