I have been taking Lortab (generic) 7.5 since around Aug. 05 and the last few months my pain management doctor has had me on Lortab 10's and I also have been on Soma's since Aug. also. I also take Zoloft 100mg. My pain managment doctor has been monitoring me w/ my drug intake and if I run out to soon then that is tuff I have to wait. Well this last month I have taken more then I should because of the pain in my lower back and I took my last one on Friday evening. I am now having withdrawls since last night and having a hard time with it. Should I seek attention at the ER or just ride it out. I have looked on the internet and I find nothing about going to hospital just the symtoms and stuff. Please help me?

Optional Information:

I had 2 tylenol tablets last night before bedtime, had thermopad on back but with the withdrawls nothing I don't know what to do. I did take hot bath to see if it would help

In most cases withdrawl from this type of medication lasts 3-4 days so you have already made it through two days. I am not sure if they would be able to give you anything at the ER so I would suggest hard as it is to ride it out. They will not give you anything else for the pain if you are in withdrawl and under the care of a physician except for clonidine which is primarily known for helping with withdrawl symptoms such as worsening of your pain symptoms, nausea, vomiting, dialated pupils, and irritability. The reason that you end up taking more is your body has grown used to them and even when you physicially do not need one your brain tells you do so you take another thinking you are feeling pain and then run out too early. The pain will still be there and worse when you run out so I would recommend watching the timing of your medication and make sure you wait the 4-6 hours even if your brain is telling you to take one earlier as doing this starts to make the medication in-effective afterwhile as your resistance grows higher and higher. If your symptoms are bad you can go and they will most likely prescribe the clonidine which will lessen the symptoms it all depends on how bad they are and if you feel you cannot make it through the next 48 hours.

Thank you I will just ride it out....I am tolerating it to a degree and I do go see my doctor that prescribed them on Friday and I will let him know what happened. My husband is going to help me control them from now on so that I do not take more then I should.
