I would like to know about the contraceptive medication Yasmin. My sister-in-law has been taken it and is just now beginning to show sign of a reaction to this medication.
Severe headaches being the primary symptom.
Right now she isn't taking it mainly because of the headaches. My brother called alittle while ago and she had passed out and it took several minutes before she became alert and oriented. I told him to take her to the ER but I do not know if she has agreed to go.
Her GYN doctor can not be reached until morning but I suggested that they at least call his answering service.
Her blood sugar is also very low as is her blood pressure. Could the Yasmin be causing this or could she be having withdrawal because she isn't taking it?
Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

There are many less common side effects of this medication such as spotting or missed cycles abdominal pain, headaches are known to decrease in some individuals and increase in others. With both of these side effects it is advised to be seen as soon as possible. Along with the fact that she is suffering from low blood pressure and sugar it can contribute to a change in the hormones which could cause a greater risk for high blood sugar levels. I would recommend that she be seen tonight if she actually passed out as it may not even be the medication that caused her to pass out it could also be related to her blood sugar or pressure so it is important that not only she be seen as soon as possible also discuss whether this is a good choice of birth control at the time with her other medical issues.
