It's called "Pica"...Pica is an eating disorder typically defined as the persistent eating of non-nutritive substances. Some of the outcomes can include: malnutrition, abdominal problems, intestinal obstruction, hypokalemia, hyperkalemia, phosphorus intoxication, and dental injury.

So you really should speak with your doctor about this. Sometimes it can be due to deficiency within your body that may cause this craving.

Generally treatment is dependent on the cause of the pica. Anemia and zinc deficiency may be treated with supplements. Also help with pica treatment may include counseling and behavior modification techniques. Some doctors/psychiatrists are advocating the use of psychotropic medications to treat pica associated with OCD.
