If you went to a General Pratitioner he should have run a blood test called PT/PTT which measures your bleeding/clotting time. If he hesitates or puts you off call a Hemotologist and they will discover the cause. Hemophilia and vitamin deficiency are two possibilities but there are several bleeding disorders and only a blood test can diagnose them.
If you take medications or supplements (such as it is possible they could encourage bleeding and worsen bruising. These include:
Aspirin, Acetaminophen Ibuprofen
Ketoprofen
Naproxen
blood thinners (like Coumadin)
Antacids
Corticosteroids
Antidepressants
Antihistamines
some antibiotics
anti-convulsants
Medicines used to treat an overactive thyroid
antifungal medicines
vitamin K
Ginger, Vtamin E and Garlic
Calcium supplements
It is possible to have delicate or thin skin and venous walls and just be prone to bruising. The older we get the more this is true.
I hope this was helpful. If you need more please feel free to ask.
Make certain you see a Doctor and take care.
