Question

Hi, I have a body odor. However, I do not smell anything.

Sent to Health Experts April 04, 2006 8:34 p.m.

Hi, I have a body odor. However, I do not smell anything. But others say that I smell like fish and some say that I smell sour. I do, however, sweat alot in the palm of my hands, my waistline, between my thighs, on the back of my thighs, and on the bottom of my feet, but only when I am nervous. I have a prescription for hyperhidrosis (drysol) but it does not work for me. I have been prescribed for bacterial vaginosis, but the medicine broke me out into hives. Should I get another prescription? Or just tell me what should I do? (Body Odor)

Optional Information:
Female , Age: 25

Already Tried:
Oral Metronidazol and drysol

You need to talk with your physician as there are other medications out there that they can use if the ones they prescribed have not been working for you. And yes you do need another prescription for the bacterial vaginitis. You do not smell anything since you have become accustomed to the smell that is why others smell it and you do not. I would highly recommend you talk with your physician about other medications.

Well the answer you provided was not helpful. I knew that I could have seen a physician. However, I was looking for an over the counter medicine to help me, because I am a recent graduate and I have not found a job that would provide me with insurance. So if you could please help me on that accord, I would greatly appreciate. And if it sounds that I am rude, I am not trying to be. I am just agitated.

Even without insurance vaginitis cannot be cured with OTC medications or I would have gladly provided you with something. There are many body sprays as well out there but not as strong as the prescription you were given and there are oral medications as well and since you do highly need to be seen it would be best to ask for an oral medication as no matter what I prescribe as far as body odor sprays OTC they will most likely be a waste of your money. I can understand not having insurance and do not think you were being rude with me, but at least please be seen in the ER and make monthly payments as the vaginitis is serious and will not go away on its own and they can treat you for both this way during one visit. The vaginitis can also be treated with Clindamycin and this may work better for you but no matter what you need prescription medications and that can only be obtained through the ER or a physician.
