What are the circumstances which make you to lose control of your bladder ? Is it cough or straining of the abdomen? Do you have prolapse of the Uterus? Did you have child birth?
If your answer is yes to one of the question above , you may have Urinary Stress Incontinence which means the strength of the urethral sphincter is diminished, and the sphincter is not able to prevent urine flow when there is increased pressure from the abdomen. Other causes are as below:
- Urinary tract infection or inflammation
- Stool impaction from severe constipation, causing pressure on the bladder
- Side effects of medications (such as diuretics, tranquilizers, some cough and cold remedies, certain antihistamines for allergies, and antidepressants)
- Increased urine amounts, like with poorly controlled diabetes
- Pregnancy
- Weight gain
- Short-term bedrest -- for example, when recovering from surgery
