I concieved on march 18. I have been on demerol, klonapin and phenogran this whole time. Could the fetus be damaged?

Dear T,

There is data against using these medications in pregnancy. You are so very early, that you most likely will have no problems from them. They can do tests like:

chorionic villus sampling (CVS) ~ If necessary this test is performed between 10 and 12 weeks of pregnancy and can indicate the same chromosomal abnormalities and genetic disorders as amniocentesis can. It also can detect the baby's sex and risk of spina bifida. You might consider this. Even this test has risks of complications, your doctor might advise against it.

STOP all the medications and see your OB for his advice based on the ultrasound. I would have to say, odds are things will be fine.
