I just had an endoscopic procedure where I was diagnosed with: gastritis, esophogitis, gastic polyps and a large diverticulum in the cardia. I am taking Nexium. Should I be worried about this? Should I do anything else? Be on a diet? I don't see my doctor for four more weeks and I'm anxious to know about this diagnosis.

The Nexium is one of the best medications for the diagnosis that you were given. It would also be best to avoid any spicy foods, and eat a bland diet which will cause less gas in the stomach and will help until you are able to be seen by your physician. The polyps if they are big enough they may choose to remove them but I would not be overly worried as of yet as the Nexium is very effective and if they felt it was more serious they would have you come in right away for further evaluation. Your best bet is to continue with the Nexium and eat as bland a diet as you can, boiled chicken, cooked rice, boiled hamburger are all good for a bland diet.
