I am a 25 year old woman. For the past few months I have had diarrhea almost every time I go to the bathroom. I also have to urinate very very frequently. I have had more yeast infections (or what I thought was yeast infections) than usual lately, too. I thought I had a urinary tract infection, but the doctor said it was very mild, and the antibiotics cured it only temporarily. I have been tested for all STDs and do not have any. My girlfriend shares some of these symptoms too (mostly indicative of a urinary tract infection.) Do you have any idea what this could be? Or, do you know what kind of doctor I should see about this problem?

If you feel you are having alot of urinary problems and the antibiotics that you have been prescribed are not working or only temporarily working then you may need a stronger antibiotic like Cipro which is one of the most potent and highly recommended for constant re-occuring urinary problems. You should see a Urologist for this if they continue. For the constant diarrhea you have been having it could be a sign of a gastrointestional disorder such as IBS and your best bet would be to see an Internal Medicine Specialist. Especially if this has been so re-ocurring and trips to your regular Family Physician have not seemed to help. I have seen many a patient with re-occuring UTI's and the Cipro has been very effective in fully dissolving the bacteria so if they have not tried this antibiotic I highly recommend this as well especially if they have ruled out any STD's.
