There are many reasons for failure to obtain an erection.

They can include:

stress and psychological factors

medical conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease

some medication including betablockers etc

hormone problems

Can you let me know his age and general health? How long has this been a problem?

Thanks

Reply to Pauline's Post: He's 33 years old. He's bi polar, but he's on medication to control this. This has been a problem for the last week and a half. He says that he can't get an erection. What usually turns him on doesn't work. Could he have somehow damaged the nerves in his penis by masturbating too often. He says he thinks he desynthesized it. is this possible and can it be corrected?

He would have to have worked very hard to damage the nerves, or blood vessels supplying the penis. If there was a visible sign of bruising or bleeding then this might be a problem.

His medication could certainly contribute to the problem. Also his state of mind too. He may benefit from some counselling but the important thing is that he doesn't start to worry as this in itself can worsen the situation.

For the time being then agree that you will have cuddles etc but not full intercourse in order to take the pressure off.
