Please help! What adverse effect do we watch for if an 18

Sent to Health Experts June 01 03:45 PM

Please help!
What adverse effect do we watch for if an 18 months old baby accidentally
ingested .4 mg of Clonidine (hypertension medicine). How long does the medicine stay in her system?   What can we do or asked her doctor to what type of tests they need to run to make sure there's no damage to her internal organs? What other symptoms do we look for?

Thank you.

You need to watch for any extreme sleeplessnes, nausea, vomiting, lethargic behavior or nervousness. In most cases the medication will be out of her system within the next 48 hours, especially with only one pill. There are not any real tests to determine if any damage was done and I don't feel this will cause any lasting or permanent damage but monitor her for any signs above and if she becomes ill please have her seen right away.
