When bile pigments travel through the bowel they are processed by enzymes and that turns the stool brown. If the stool becomes light or clay colored it generally indicates a lack of bile. An obstruction of the bile duct, a gallbladder or liver problem would be likely.

The color of stool also is affected by what you eat.Kaopectate and some other anti diarrhea medications can lighten the stool also.

Since you have been feeling listless, it is certainly possible that a gallbladder, liver or bile duct problem exists. A blockage of a bile duct can be a serious problem You should see your physician or go to an emergency room. They will check blood tests for liver transaminases, serum bilirubin level and perhaps do an untrasound of the liver and gallbladder.

Good luck and I hope this turns out to not be anything serious. Please get checked.
