Hello,
Thank you for giving me your time to possibly answer aquestion I have. I have been on Effexor 150 mg.1X/day and Xanax 1.0 mg 3X/day for 6 months. I also take Hydrocodone/APAP and Soma (350 mg.) for a back injury as needed. My dosage of Effexor was cut to 75 mg. 1X/day 3 days before this event. The othe night I was working in the full sun al day building a new home (not my normal job). I barely ate all day and did not drink enough water throughout the day. We sat down for a very late meal and I took all my medication-including the Hydrocodone and Soma just before eating. By the end of the meal I slipped into a foggy state with slurred speach and trembling hands. I was not able to recall some details of the dinner conversation. My sister and brother-in-law thought I was having a stroke but my feeling is too much medication on an empty stomach on top of exhaustion and dehydration. I also think I took too much Hydrocodone and Soma since my body was in extreme pain from the days work. Could the symptoms in your opinion I described be attributed to the medication and circumstance? I have felt fine since without any syptoms or episodes noted above. I really appreciate your time to try and answer my questions. I am in the process of reducing all medications. Thanks you!

Yes this is exactly what happened as you had too much medication and not enough food and water and so it had a drastic effect on your system. It can cause nausea and vomiting, lethargic behavior, and a drunk feeling that can be apparent to others. I do feel this was a case of too much medication as the medications you are on are can cause dizziness and drowsiness. So this sounds almost like an overdose reaction and it is wise that you are cutting back. Try not to take them all at once and spread out the times you are taking them. Take the hydrocodone, wait an hour or two then take the soma, then also wait and take the xanax and effexor at different times as well. If you take all these at ones the effects can hit hard and cause the symptoms you experienced. This does not sound like a stroke but too much medication and without enough food or water and being in extreme heat can cause what happened to you.
