I suffer from constant sweating from my neck and head ...
Sent to Health Experts July 26 03:30 PM

I suffer from constant sweating from my neck and head area only. It increases when I physically exert myself and when I go thru stressful mental situations. I also sweat in my sleep. My hair always looks, and is wet. I am 53yrs. over menopause. My labs including thyroids are normal. Do you think my body is still going thru menopause? Or is it some kind of off the wall autonomic neuro problem?; as one doctor has already suggested. I have increased lipids, protein, and SGPT; but only slightly increased. Hepatitis C pos. but not enough to measure quanatatively. Slightly inc. white cells in CBC count. SEd rate norm. I'm scheduled for more hormone tests, but really, I'm hoping one of you has run across this problem. I cannot work anymore, for I work in food service, and the sweat pouring off my face is not appreciated by my customers or my boss. It has turned out to be a real life altering issue. I'm really desperate.

Reply to Dr.M.D.Mazumdar, MD(O's Post: I started sweating at menopause 10 years ago, and it has progressively worsened. For every year the sweating has increased...even after menopause. I sweat more during the day for I am performimg daily tasks. As an example: grocery shopping. When I check out after about 1 hr. of shopping, I am absolutely drenched, hair, clothes and face. Sweat is dripping profusely from my face and neck area. I only sweat sometime at night. not all the time. Thank You

An OTC product called Drysol can be applied at night and washed off in the morning ." A 20% alcoholic solution of aluminum chloride hexahydrate (Drysol) can be used. An effective alternative is 6.25% aluminum tetrachloride (Xerac). It should be applied at bedtime and covered with a plastic food wrap; polyethylene or vinyl gloves can be worn if the palms are affected. In the morning, the treated areas should be washed with soap and water. Prescribe 1-3 consecutive treatments per week. Once dryness has been achieved, maintenance with one treatment per week should suffice". It works fro 6 hours - http://www.hyperhidrosis.org/antiperspirant.htm
