i have been having LUQ abd pain for approx. 3weeks off and ...

i have been having LUQ abd pain for approx. 3weeks off and on the past 3 days it seems to be getting worse. i tend to get chest pains with it. i have been taking tums thinking it could just be gas. what do you think

It sounds like you are probably having gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)- The Tums may give temporary relief, although you are likely to get better results with Prilosec (available over-the-counter now)

You should avoid all caffeine, alcohol, tobacco and aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen, naproxen, Advil, Motrin, Aleve)

If you continue to have these symptoms, I would suggest that you see a physician.

i have been told this could be GERD how do i know it is nothing worse such pancreatits, gallbladder or even heart attack?
