I am 48 years old and have been on some sort of antidepressant since giving birth to my last child 15 years ago. My original diagnosis was for severe pms. The medications prescribed were all the ssri reuptake inhibitors. I recently got off of medications, my symptoms seem to be worse, and I am feeling very depressed and blue. I don't want to start back on these again, will it just take a while for my system to get back to normal? It has been about 5 week. Please advise

What was the name of the antidepressant medication your last taking?

Will was the dosage?

What are your specific reasons for wanting to not be on antidepressants any longer?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

The last I had taken was Cymbalta, I believe it was 500mg. My reasons for wanting to discontinue the meds are I felt like I was becoming a slave to them. I also felt that 15 years was far too long to be taking anti-depressants.
