Hi

So you have had pain constantly for 5 years??

Can you describe precisely the location of the pain.

Is the pain keeping you awake?
Anythings agrivate/relieve the pain?

Have you had any tests or treatment so far??

pain started after giving birth, it was generalized in my hip area, difficult standing up and very painful feet soles when i woke. after 2 or 3 years i had x rays and mris. they found shallow sockets and very mild arthritis, not a good reason for so much pain. the pain even though can be felt on the sides of the hip, is excrutiating in the ligaments in the inner groin that connects the leg to the pubic bone area, and also in the ligament/ muscle in front of the hip shooting down the legs. orthopedic doctors think a may need a dual hip replacement. it doesn't ring true to me. i also going through premenopause and having a small child my hormones have probably been pretty up and down. thanks for brain storming and getting the whole picture

Thanks for the info.

It's a very difficult problem that you have there.
I'm with you 100% on the hip replacements - they need replaced after 10 years and re do hips is a very very major op.

Sounds like you have been very well investigated though and it is unlikely that any Dr is going to come up with a "cure" for your symptoms.

Are you on medication at the present time?

i take 600 mg motrin when i can barely walk or go up the stairs because of pain. sometimes a xanax to sleep at night, i can't turn around inbed without walking up in pain. Any suggestions? I read in an old book "getwell" by adelle davis something like a lot of stress depletes panthothenic acid and creates swollen ligaments and muscles , also menopause can cause similar symptoms. she doesn't address exactly doses of vitamins she talks about C,B,E.,sha called this fibrositis and myositis.have you heard of this or referr me to someone/website that can help me                                         &n bsp;/ thanks

Hi

I do not think looking for a name to put on your condition is the really the best way forward here.

You have chronic pain syndrome.

Any pain that has been present for more than six months become difficult ( impossible) to remove.

I know you do not want to hear that but it is the truth.

Would you like me to go on about the tretment options available ?

Hi

There ar etwo options although both can be used at the same time.

1. Find out if your pain is "opiate responsive."
Get your Dr to prescibe you a very strong painkiller such. If it works your pain is responsive and the meication can be adjusted for optimun results. If there is no response then it is non-responsive and there is no sense in continuing with that type of medication.

2. Chronic pain causes a build up of certain chemicals in the spinal cord. Medications are available that reduce the levels of theses chemical and therefore reduce pain and make it easier to live with. Most of these medicines are antidepressants such as venlafaxine/duloxetine etc etc.
These meds are very useful and are the backbone of chronic pain management.
