My son had the flu last months with fever, congestion and cough. Now he still has the cough and is constant, he hardly stops coughing..He refuses to go to receive medical attention...What could be the cause of the constant cough after a months of having had the flu...and if there are some household remedies for that, or if something can be found at the pharmacy without a prescription...

This could be related to bronchitis and that requires help with antibiotics. It could also be a problem within his lungs as with the congestion and coughing it most likely left some scar tissue in his chest and this makes the cough, which is usually the hardest to fight, continue without relief. If inhalers, cough syrups, and OTC medications have not been a help, most likely this is bacterial in nature and not viral and he really needs a round of antibiotics and an x-ray to determine if any scar tissue has developed due to being sick without medication to clear up the infection. There are things that can be found without a prescription but inhalers are the best for relieving the coughing so he should be seen, also alot of tea with honey can help to sooth his throat. If he happens to smoke this can also cause it to continue to be a problem as well so if he does he needs to stop or it may continue.
