If you put weight on quickly, the skin has trouble stretching and creates purple 'zones' of new tissue which we tend to call stretch marks. These areas lack some of the characteristics of normal skin. In addition, if someone is very overweight then the layers of fatty tissue underneath the skin will result in reduced blood supply to the skin layers leading to impaired nutrition and reduced healing.
Using body oils and moisturisers will help the skin retain some suppleness and Vitamin E is an excellent oil for helping to heal. Its often used by pregnant women and for treating scar tissue.
You also need to ensure that you drink plenty of water for hydration and eat plenty of fruit and veg to ensure your diet contains sufficient vitamins and minerals for healing.
As a very overweight person you are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes which also causes reduced healing.
In addition there is a situation where pigmentation can become deposited in the layers of the skin leading to a permanent darkening of the skin. Again very common in the overweight and pre-diabetic.
Fiinally there is a condition known as varicose eczema which causes darkening of the skin, tends to be a disease of the elderly and overweight.
Once the skin becomes damaged it is then susceptible to an infection known as cellulitis, this is a bacterial infection of the lower layers of the skin and requires at least 10 days of the oral antibiotic flucloxacillin. Your doctor can take skin samples and swabs to confirm the diagnosis. If left untreated you can develop leg ulcers which take a very long term to heal.
I am going offline for a while but will check back when I can to see if you have any more questions.
