My mother in law is being treated for fibromyalgia by a ruematologist she has taken benzoazapines and opieods for over twenty years oh also sleeping pills and muscle relaxers I understand this is a real condition but she is so drug up somtimes that it frightens the family she can hardly function and she is still driving just recently we went to the doctor with her he has her on 15 different medications including topamax,clonazepan,cymbalta,kadian,ms-1r,soma,wellbutrin,boniva,zomig,evista,premarin,lorazeopam,dyazide,vicodan hp(10/660) and Halcion we are very worried and concerned and would like some information we confiscated over two shipment boxes full of several different medictions that we think she may also be taking we also know and have seen her take more than the prescribed amount of vicodan I expressed my concern to her last week but she just cried and said she is just in so much pain. help, is this treatment safe and what is the normal treatment for this illness

I agree with your assessment that she is on too much medicine.

She is one multiple different narcotics including Kadian, Morphine imediate release, Vicodin along with Lorazepam, Clonazepam, Halcion, and Soma - all of which are addictive.

She really needs to be detoxed and I would STRONGLY suggest you get her to another physician - probably a pain clinic that has a very restrictive attitude towards narcotic/benzodiazepine use.

I think this physician (and I use the term loosely in this case) has turned you mother-in-law into a drug addict. She needs to get away from this doctor!
