Concern over Test results
Sent to Health Experts August 22 08:43 PM

I am woman 38 yrs have hypothyroidism and been on meds for over 10 yrs. Recently my dr lowered my dose of armour thyroid from 120 to 60 mg a day. After being on this dose for about 6wks my dr retest my bloodwork and this is my concern but not his help. TSH 39.09 (.40 - 5.5 range); T3 137 (60 - 181 range) T4 3.7 (4.5 - 12.5 range) FT4 .6 (.8 - 1.8 range). I am concerned about my TSH being so high and my T4 and Ft4 being below average. Is this cause for concern?

This can happen with the reduction in the medications at first until your system levels out which can take up to three months in some cases but usually not this long. It can affect your TSH level as well as your T4 and F4 levels. That is quite a high TSH level so it may be that they need to increase your medications back up at least to 80-100mg to see if this seems to help level out your bloodwork. I would not be concerned yet but do make sure your bloodwork is monitored regularly until they can see if they level out on their own or if an increase in your thyroid medications. Continue with the vitamins as they can be a wonderful help.

Reply to Cheryl K.'s Post: Thank you for the prompt response and the helpful information. I have another appointment at the end of september to have my bloodwork checked again. I was just concerned with the high elevation of the TSH. I satisfied with your answer. Thanks again.
