First, thank you so much for requesting me!

I don't often deal with patients who have chronic pain, mostly acute post surgery and post trauma in my experience.

However there has been some success in the use of drugs like anti seizure and antidepressant medications because of the sites that they work on in the brain called neurotransmitters. This would perhaps work in your case because the pain is likely "neuropathic" meaning that the pain is due to the constant stimulation of nerve cells.
Some drugs that you could discuss with your doctor are Neurontin (gabapentin), Lyrica (pregabalin), in the anti seizure class and Lioresal (baclofen), an antispasm drug. In the antidepressant class, some that have been shown to be promising are Elavil (amitriptyline), Pamelor (nortriptyline), and other similar drugs. When used for pain rather than depression (not to say that pain isn't depressing!), they can be given in lower doses. I would talk to the doc about these possibly being useful in your case and perhaps see if there is a chronic pain clinic or specialist in your area.

Actually, I just searched on the WebMD find a doctor site and there are 52 listings within 25 miles of your home town as listed in your profile! Many are associated with Childrens centers and the large majority are anesthesia associated (they do blocks and so forth). But there are several that are just listed as rehab and chronic pain specialists.
