Question

Sent to Health Experts September 09, 2006 5:45 p.m.

when i was 19, i went to the gynecologist to start taking the pill to relieve severe cramps, bloating, and mood swings. when i started taking the pill, these symptoms were relieved but i became overwhelmingly anxious and depressed (and i also, with out a change in diet and exercise, gained in between 20-30 pounds). i feel like i never really completely recovered from the experience. i discontinued use after about six months and have not taken an oral contraceptive since!
i am now almost 32. my PMS symptoms have now become so severe that (my period included) it consumes at least two weeks out of every month. i am in severe pain from cramps and bloating, but i do not have any serious medical conditions that would contribute to these symptoms (ie. endodemetriosis).
needless to say this interferes with my sex life tremendously, by the time i recover from the symptoms and my period, i rarely feel like having sex at all.

my question is this.
over the past 12 years, with the inception of low hormone pills, is there a pill i can take that will not make me insane and also not make me gain weight. is there a pill that contains no hormones (or hormone substitutes). i am desperate to relieve these symptoms and end the disenfranchised feeling i have with my body.
