We are traveling and my husband just came down with a migraine. He hasn't had one in two years so we have no medication to treat it. Last time, the doctor prescribed a heavy-duty pain killer. How can we quickly get just one or two of these pain killers to use until the migraine passes? We are involved in 2 meetings today and then 12 hours of flights tomorrow. We are at a La Quinta in Milwaukee, WI.

Hi! Sorry about your husbands migraine. Unfortunately pharmacies can not dispense without a scrip. Go to the desk clerk and explain your emergency. Tell him/her you need an EMO immediately and to call ahead. Have a cab waiting. If you go to an EMO, instead of the ER, the care is quicker and the wait is usually much less. Bring ID, and be prepared to write a full health history and have your Insurance card. If you have a contact Doctors number they can call, this will assure that you will get the proper medicine right away. Most EMO's will dispense enough meds to get you through the crises until you can return to your home doctor. Please explain that you must fly for 12 hours and the pain will be unbearable with the pressure change. Good luck and if you have any other questions, please ask.
