REPLIED Check Mark

Avandia and Metformin - the two component medications in Avandamet - typically do not cause much difficulty. They actually lower blood sugars to normal, but actually tend not to cause it to drop TOO low. If you are on any other diabetic medications, then there is a chance that you sugar would drop too low.

As a precaution - It would be advisable to eat a bigger snack this PM, and check your BS several times.

I'm not currently on any other diabetic meds. I don't check my bs. What should I watch for if my blood sugar gets too low

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Nervousness, shaky, lightheaded, confusion, sweating all are symptoms. If you get these, eat something sweet, and then get a snack with some protein (which will prevent it from dropping again)

Here is a great link on the subject of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
