It sounds like you have an infection - possibly a yeast infection. If you are sexually active with non-monogmous partners, the discharge could also be a sign of an STD.
The only way to know 100% what is causing the problem, however, is to see your doctor. He/she should be able to tell you fairly quickly what the underlying cause of the discharge and pain is, and ideally prescribe something to help - typically such medications begin to help with the symptoms after a few days.
